THE EXPRESSIVE ARTS PROCESS

NOT THERAPY BUT THERAPEUTIC

I guide you through the de-centering experience of art making, and bridge you back to the transformational power of your own wisdom over your life

The Expressive Arts process is a multimodal approach to the power of transformation through the arts. We may use movement, play, sounding, music, visual arts, photography, collages, clay or sculpture, art installations, even cooking and gardening as access points to deep play and the ritual of art making and the art of making sense.

Expressive Arts is fundamentaly different from other forms of Art therapy in its process and the philosophies it grounds in. Grounded in phenomenology and not in psychology, the Expressive Arts process gives more credit to the actual present or residual experience more than a memory or story. We ground into felt sense experience and work creatively with the challenge, not on the challenge. We make sense of the artwork that has come through by harvesting and reflecting on it, we never interpret it, especially as practitioner we are not answers or wisdom providers, but we help find the keys that open the door to your own wisdom.

My role as Expressive Arts practitioner is one of a change agent. I guide you through the decentering experience of art making, and bridge you back to the transformational power of your own wisdom. I share embodied empathic insights and aesthetic responses but I never provide answers and solutions. I create and give space for you to stay with the questions, explore and make the sense that is meaningful and useful for you and for your life.

I work in various ways with the Expressive Arts which you can discover below, and also run occasional workshops which are announced in my newsletter.

WAYS I WORK WITH THE EXPRESSIVE ARTS

  • RE:SOURCE : ONLINE WEEKLY GROUP SESSIONS

This space is dedicated to both personal resourcing through somatics and art making as well as group sharing and sometimes group processes. It is a space for nurturing connection, seeing others and being seen. Sharing is always optional off course and sometimes it is just enough to share the space together.

We work with various modalities and always with what we have available. Through time you will gather basics that will support you even outside this space in your own explorations and expressions.

    General admission sliding scale 12-20€

  • 1:1 SESSIONS

This space is for your own very personal unfolding. Sessions are 1h and we assess each time where you are at and what you want to address. It is also beneficial to work over time as the relationship practitioner/client builds over time. It is also interesting to work on a process over few sessions even though each session can be self standing.

General rate for 1h session is 65€

    Package of 4 sessions 240€ or 6 sessions 360€ (packages valid 6months)

IN ODA’S WORDS

“There are people who naturally create the kind of space where you can just breathe a little easier - where things start to shift, soften, and make more sense. Sophie is one of those people. The first time I took part in one of her sessions was a grief workshop that ended up being quietly transformative. Something in me began to untangle during that session. Not in a dramatic way, more like a gentle, steady unfolding. Her presence helped me connect with my emotions in a way I hadn’t quite managed before. It created a bridge between my heart and my awareness that I still walk across today.”

Mark Nepo wrote that

TO LISTEN IS TO BE WILLING TO BE CHANGED BY WHAT WE HEAR

in the same way, to look at our artwork can shift our perspective on life.
We have to be willing to let oursleves be changed and our lives be transformed by what we notice. There lies the power of imagination and the Expressive Arts process.

WHAT PEOPLE SAY

  • Sophie guided us with sensitivity as we moved our bodies in a way that followed the rhythms of the seasons and elements. I felt free, safe, and deeply held. It was liberating to move without judgment and to express myself through clay, paint, and visual play.

    Maisie

  • Our 2 days workshop on empowerment ended with a sharing circle. Even though I usually find that quite hard to share in those situations, Sophie created such a supportive space that I felt comfortable and not judged at all.

    Maisie

  • What really sets Sophie apart is her ability to hold space. She has that quiet, intuitive sense of knowing when to guide, when to step back, and how to meet people exactly where they are. Whether it is cueing movement or holding difficult emotion, she brings a kind of calm precision, like she’s reading the situation with both her mind and her whole body.
